Emberbound Tales
★★★★☆ 4.3
Emberbound Tales blends light RPG progression with grid-based tactical battles. You build a small party, learn their quirks, and slowly unlock abilities that change how you approach each encounter. It's the kind of game you play in bursts and think about between sessions.
The writing carries more weight than we expected. Characters talk to each other between missions and the story earns its quieter moments. Combat stays interesting because enemy placement forces you to actually use terrain and turn order.
Grinding creeps in during the middle chapters, and there's a soft push toward waiting timers. If you can look past that, the tactical layer is genuinely good and the party building is satisfying to tinker with.

- Grid tactics that reward positioning
- Characters worth caring about
